WBENC 11th annual salute honors nationwide WBEs and Top Corporations

The 2008 Salute to Women’s Busi- ness Enterprises: The Power of Progress was held on March 20 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C. WBENC’s annual black-tie event celebrated the contribu- tions of WBEs in the United States econ- omy and spotlighted the corporations and government agencies that provide WBEs with growth opportunities.

WBENC President and CEO Linda J. Denny also honored America’s Top Corporations for Women’s Business Enterprises for 2007.  Also honored and brought on stage where the 14 WBENC Stars. *See cover story for the WBENC Stars Also honored was William “Bill”Alcorn, JCPenney senior vice president, controller and chief procurement offi- cer, who was among the group of dedi- cated professionals to start WBENC 11 years ago and served as the council’s first chair of the board. The evening ended with dessert and dancing.
