With a keen eye for detail, Joyner adds joy to promotional products industry

June 12, 2008

Over the course of the 16 years that Donna Joyner has
been in the rapidly growing and continuously chang-
ing sales, promotion and specialty products and serv-
ices industry, she has effectively repositioned her company
from being just a supplier, to carving out a niche for being
extremely creative and resourceful with the ability to deliver
exactly what they promise.

Joy Promotions Inc (JPI) has the
ability to design, develop and deploy effective branding and
advertising solutions that perform wonders.
As an entrepreneurial businesswoman, mother, grandmoth-
er, sister to many, friend to countless others and the daughter
of a king,“I am pleased to serve as Joy Promotions’ president
while God is the CEO,” she said.“It leads to an active and ful-
filled life with amazing time management and an awesome
team working together with me.”

DIFFERENTIATING FACTOR

While Joyner is always looking for creative new ways to
service the client, her firm has developed a progressive niche
by providing a wealth of products and services geared
towards serving large, medium or small organizations as well
as governmental or public sector entities. Its offerings in-
clude sales incentive, employee recognition, safety awareness
programs and special event promotional products, business gifts, product fulfillment services as well as out-of-the-box solutions cus-
tomized to help clients meet their individualized goals.

While there are very few limits to the products Joyner can offer her
clientele, some examples include men’s and women’s apparel, briefcases,
customized computer accessories, golf accessories, mugs and steins as well
as writing utensils. In each instance, Joyner and her team of professionals
work cohesively with the clients to design products that facilitate project
goals while positively displaying the client name or image.
“The customer is always my main priority — [we have to be] prepared
to handle any project large or small at a moment’s notice. We listen very
well to our clients and provide sound professional advice to ensure that
our margin for error remains almost non-existent,” she said.

Joyner continued,“A desire for order is my focus and as long as systems
are in place, all the parts of Joy Promotions can function in one accord. We
focus on providing results that affect the bottom line. When a company
forms a relationship with Joy Promotions it is a win-win situation for all
involved. Our customer’s success translates to our success, so we are very
pulse-sensitive to our customers. This is something we take to heart in all
of our dealings.”

EYES FOR DETAIL

Operating within a fast-paced market makes it mandatory to keep on the
cutting edge of the supply and manufacturing chain, which often includes
participating in trade expos such as the Las Vegas PPAI Expo and ASI Expo.
“Some of my best ideas flow from exposure to industry trade shows. They
are a necessary and vital part of the industry, so they are very important to
us,” Joyner said.

“Our customers are looking to us for new ideas, and we have
every intention of delivering. Remaining static has never been an option.”
According to Joyner, it is exciting to intently focus on steadily growing
and learning within an ever-changing marketplace.
“It has prompted us to position ourselves as truly innovative in aptly
delivering out-of-the-box solutions to our client base. The fact that most of
our customers come to us via referrals from other customers – many of
them Fortune 1000 companies that I have established relationship with
over the last 16 years – shows that we understand the market and listen to
what our clients want,” Joyner said.

“Last week, we received an order from
someone in England based on the referral of a major corporation here in
Dallas. Our reputation is the most powerful selling tool that we can ever
have, and I want to ensure that Joy Promotions Inc stays intact. That’s why
I’m a stickler for details. That way you don’t miss much.”

NEW TERRITORIES

The future for Joy Promotions is quite bright, as growth has been con-
sistent for Joyner and her team. Before the end of 2008, the dynamic
firm’s operations will expand to include offices in Houston and Austin
with three more locations to follow. Joyner will remain at the headquar-
ters in Dallas while a regional sales manager will handle operations in
expanded territories.
Part of the continued expansion is due to relationships with various
industry and networking organizations, Joyner explained.

Joy Promotions
is an active member of the Dallas Fort Worth Minority Business Council,
Women’s Business Council-Southwest, Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce
and Exceptional Women, among other groups. Joy Promotions has also
won the MBE Class 1 Minority Business of the Year award in 2006 from the
Dallas Fort Worth Minority Business Council and was nominated again in
2007. Joyner was also nominated for the Rising Star Award with Women’s
Business Council-Southwest.
“The key for us is to keep equal eyes on new market offerings as well as
our customers’ changing needs,” she said.“The better we are at staying on
top of our game, the better we can help our customers succeed.”
