Innovision Technologies Continually strives to go “Above and Beyond”

June 16, 2008

To the benefit of her clients, Nikki Olyai
subscribes to the concept of, ‘going above and
beyond the call of duty’ to achieve the highest quality solutions.
Olyai’s and Dr. Renaldo Jensen’s commitment to going
above and beyond the contractual obligations is a matter of
policy at their company, Innovision Technologies.

Sustaining that policy, however, is an ongoing process. Olyai,
majority shareholder and president of Innovision Technologies,
has the proof and can even recount in detail significant projects
in which she made sure her clients were receiving much more
value than they expected. Founded 14 years ago, the Novi,
Michigan-based company is an advanced international engi-
neering and information technology firm, supporting Fortune
500 companies and high tech-driven U.S. government agencies,
such as NASA and the Department of Defense.

UP FOR A CHALLENGE

When TRW Automotive approached Innovision Technologies
in search of software testing expertise for an airbag safety sys-
tem, it was confir mation of Innovision Technologies’ strengths
and proven innovative experience in quality assurance, inde-
pendent verification and validation, and reverse engineering.

“This opportunity was especially challenging because it
represented a highly critical function for TRW’s European
safety-oriented customer,” recalled Olyai.“It was also challeng-
ing, because the automotive airbag system was formerly
developed within a very tight time frame, and as a result, did
not have any functional or design specifications. Also, the 130
modules were implemented in assembly language and did
not contain any additional documentation or comments.”
The ultimate challenge was that Innovision Technologies
had to accomplish this entire project, including test planning
and implementation; defect removal and system enhance-
ments; regression testing; and full system lifecycle documen-
tation, in a period of three months.

In response to this challenge, Innovision Technologies cre-
ated a team structure that worked around the clock. “We
also defined and enforced all of the system and documenta-
tion standards to ensure quality assurance and consistency
throughout the project,” Olyai added.
In the end, Innovision Technologies’ “above and beyond”
performance won out.The company succeeded TRW’s expec-
tations in successfully delivering this major embedded airbag
safety system and turned it into a long-term product-line con-
tract for TRW.

THE TEAM APPROACH

Jensen said that Innovision Technologies’ winning ways can
be attributed to its executive management team, whose mem-
bers are primarily engineers with advanced degrees and solid
business experience.
“The executive management’s technical and business leader-
ship skills support our unique and diver se operating capabili-
ties,” Jensen stated.“Our farsightedness allows us to under stand
and address the unique technical business needs of Innovision
Technologies’ government and nongovernment customers.”

“We are consistently sensitive to government require-
ments, corporate needs and the expectations of the scientif-
ic community,” Olyai added. “Our team is highly skilled in
anticipating, analyzing, conceptualizing, organizing and exe-
cuting the customers’ requirements, with a dedicated focus
on future needs and technological advances in our clients’
respective industries.”
Such qualifications enabled Innovision Technologies to
help Ford Motor Company save a projected $600 million
annually. Innovision Technologies worked with the executive
and technical leaders in Ford Motor Company’s Information
Technology organization to develop the business case for the
application of the Software Engineering Institute’s Capability
Maturity Model framework.

“We proactively introduced the processes to Ford Motor
Company for significant gains in software development
capability,” explained Olyai. “We also trained key software
engineers and managers on how to effectively utilize the
software processes.”
It wasn’t the first time that Innovision Technologies went
above and beyond to provide significant benefits to the car-
maker. By offering technology insertion and process improve-
ment to a Ford Motor Company innovation lab, in 2006 alone,
Innovision Technologies helped to increase lab capacity by
130 percent and throughput by 40 percent.
WHY IT WORKS
Thoroughness is an Innovision Technologies trademark, according to Olyai. “Our innovative operations begin at con-
tract phase-in,” she said.

“During this period, we develop an in-
depth understanding of the specified requirements and iden-
tify and confirm existing processes, standards, policies, proce-
dures and best practices currently in use.”
“We thrive on delivery of real benefits and performance
improvement,” Jensen added.
“What spurred the establishment of Innovision Technolo-
gies was the available market niche for the delivery of inno-
vative quality solutions, and lasting and sustainable results,”
Olyai explained.

“We recognize that, today, customers have a much broader
perception of performance,” Olyai added.“We are committed to
exceeding our clients’ expectations. Going above and beyond is
woven into the fabric of our corporate culture, and for us it has
proven to be a highly effective business practice.”
